Progress report 1

I completed removing enough of the crap-ware that Gateway included on your new laptop.
I installed all the Windows 8.0 updates, then upgraded it to Windows 8.1 and installed the new 8.1 updates.

I set up most of the features you need but there are several more yet to be done.

I did a virus scan, and de-fragmented the drive.

At this point, the Laptop runs the Livestream encoder at a fairly good frame rate using only about half the laptops processor (CPU) power. Prior to that work, the video encoder (Procaster) had problems and the CPU was overloaded.
The Laptop should run much smoother now. Windows 8.1 has several new features. If you have any problems figuring it out. please feel free to call me at any time of the day or night.

I need to talk to you about cleaning up and organizing your start menu.

Your desktop and start menu should look sharp. Your customers will see it. I will be glad to help with that.

I need to talk to you about your security.

Your PC has a local account and would be very susceptible to hacking. I can walk you through setting up a Microsoft log account. (It is FREE)  It is FAR more secure than using just a password. That will also give you 7 Gigabytes of free space at MS and sync your desktop with any other PC's you have. 7 GB is enough to provide a backup of your photos on the Laptop. I take it that you have no backup system and might loose everything should something happen to the laptop.
I also need you to use a MS login for Skype, Skydrive and Several other features of Windows that are not available with your current local account.
